"My Yoga journey started very late in life at 49"
My yoga journey started very late in life at 49 and turned into a passion.
A neighbour asked me if I would like to try yoga and thought why not. What I didn’t know, it was Bikram yoga.
I rocked up with a towel, no water and I simply had no idea but finished totally exhausted but intrigued after 1.5 hours of 41C heat.
My neighbour hated it but I was hooked and went every day for 21 days and my hubby started as well.
It started 14 years of Bikram yoga practice 6 days a week.
It is so challenging each and every day and has taught me to leave my ego at the door and not to compare myself to other people.
If you too want to get into the habit of everyday yoga practice? 👉 In this guide we dive deep into how to start doing yoga every day & stay consistent
At the start, the heat would freak me out and I would constantly be looking at the door for the teacher to open it just for 10 seconds.
Now, if the teacher opens the door, I think what did you do that for! I now just love the heat and it’s my friend.
It has also taught me to totally focus on yourself and not others falling out of poses around you.
I recently did a Kundalini yoga retreat at Lovina in the north of Bali at Santhika Yoga and it was a wonderful experience.
I had never done Kundalini yoga before and once again another really challenging experience.
This retreat was a real Bali experience and I loved everything from the yoga, food and, accommodation.
I would highly recommend a retreat to someone no matter if you are a beginner or experienced, as it allows you to totally immerse yourself in the experience.
Remember it’s not a perfect, it’s a practice.
I have also done a Bikram yoga retreat about 8 years ago in Nice France and that was also fabulous.
I feel very lucky as having now retired in Bali it has given me an opportunity to now try many types of yoga.
My husband and I are both grateful for our health and living a retired life beyond our wildest dreams. I am 62 and my husband is 68 and he surfs everyday.
We live for 8 to 9 months of the year in Bali and the rest of the year we travel. We normally spend 1 month in Vietnam or similar and 3 months in Europe. This is the perfect lifestyle for us and I can highly recommend it.
It’s definitely a lifestyle that is achievable for an average couple like us and you don’t have to be a millionaire to do it.
The most important thing to live this lifestyle is to be consistent with your fitness and food so you can enjoy yoga, travel and it’s wonderful benefits for many years. Namaste from Bali.
